Saturday 25th January .

Today the St Austell ladies travelled to face Camborne School of Mines for their second encounter of the season after St Austell bagged the 3 points at home.

CSM came out with strong breaks but were soon shut down by St Austell’s back line. As always, Saints fireys forwards were pinging the ball around, but were denied the conversion.  CSM applied constant pressure throughout the first 35 minutes and Saints struggled to convert their opportunities. Despite both team’s best efforts, the first half ended goalless.

Determined to keep the 2025 wins going, St Austell needed to pull in together and find a way to take the lead. Saints found their stride straight off in the second half, creating a lot more opportunities and were unlucky not to find the backboard early on. Charlotte Jarman’s opportunity to put the ladies ahead was narrowly denied when her short corner strike was stopped on the line. The wind now in their sails and momentum on their side St Austell’s heads picked up and began to to create more space, utilising Miranda Ball in the middle, and using the back line to play the ball around.
Finally, 53 minutes in, C Jarman sent the ball across the D to a well positioned Mel Maskell, who snuck in perfectly on to the left post to volley the cross in past the keeper, Saints finally hearing the sweet sound of the backboard. 0-1.

St Austell once again in possession began making ground towards goal, again M Ball fed a well timed ball into Vicky Jarman, where she cleanly slotted the ball past the defence and keeper, widening Saints' lead. St Austell continuing to be to dominant in their game play, were once more awarded a short corner after their relentless efforts in the circle. C Jarman saw her opportunity; a rebounded short corner allowed her to make coach Redd proud when her tomahawk strike flew into the back of net, giving St Austell a comfortable 3 goal lead.

CSMs heads didn’t drop, and they had their own breaks and opportunities themselves but keeper Kita denied CSMs relentless attacks in the closing minutes of the game, St Austell’s defence and keeper relieved to maintain a clean sheet.

The final whistle securing another 3 points from their 3-0 win.
