St Austell Ladies Vs Caradon 3's

Saturday 18th January

Saints welcomed Caradon to Penair today to kick off the 2nd half of the league!

Caradon kicked the match off by giving Saints a bit of a shock with a slick set play which resulted in them scoring within the first minute. Saints were keen to not let this set the tone for the match and pushed back into Caradon's half creating some opportunities to get equal, but were denied any chances. Caradon were on the break again and won themselves a string of short corners which they managed to successfully convert, giving them a two goal lead.

Saints weren't prepared to accept this and quickly fired back up the line where Vicky Jarman fired a ball across the D to the perfectly positioned Kellie Williams who popped the ball past the keeper.

This gave Saints the momentum they needed and Vicky Jarman made a break from the halfway line, ran straight through into the D and fired the ball home, giving Saints their 2nd goal and putting them right back in the game.

Half time 2-2.

With both teams level, the game could of gone either way. Caradon were piling on the pressure with sharp passing, quick runs and multiple players attempting to block St Austell when they were in possession. Despite this Saints managed to find their way up the pitch and secured a short corner. Maisie Moule injected out to Charlotte Jarman who unleashed a mighty strike into the back of the net, giving Saints a 1 goal advantage.

Play then got a little scrappy, with Saints desperate to keep the lead, with Miranda Ball even getting in a header and Caradon working hard to create their own opportunities. Panic eventually eased and Saints settled back into their game and were awarded with a long corner. Yasmin Barrott spotted Moule making a lovely run down the right hand side and was able to slip the ball into her path. Moule then fired a ball across the D to V Jarman on the post who got the finishing touch to put the Saints even further in front.
