Saturday 2nd November

Saints headed over to Bodmin for a nice early pushback this morning, with a strong squad of 15 the team felt calm and content heading into the game.

The play began with Saints taking a while to settle in and find some rhythm. The first 15 minutes were fairly even and end to end before Bodmin bagged a goal off the post to put them ahead of the Saints.

This seemed to give Saints the kick that they needed and play began to flow with some much better play. It wasn't long before a little Jarman magic between sisters allowed Saints to get themselves a goal back after Vicky Jarman hit the target.

Saints had a few more chances but failed to convert again before half time.

Half time 1-1.

After some constructive half time feedback Saints returned for the second half. Saints continued to pick up the performance in the second half, now well established in the game, but it was clear that Bodmin were hungry for possession and were quick to be on the Saints back, with some man marking strategies in place.

Bodmin were able to up the pressure onto Saints defensive line and after a lot of back and forth in the D a Bodmin ball was pinged onto Saints post and efforts to stop the ball resulted in the ball dropping into the net off a St Austell stick.

This once again gave St Austell more desire to get a goal, but unfortunately were not able to get a goal back before the full time whistle.

Final Score Bodmin 2-1 St Austell.

A disappointing loss and many lessons to be learned following this performance. We look forward to learning and moving forwards with a more positive and determined outlook.
