Today St Austell welcomed the newly promoted CSM to Penair for the first home game of the season.

Saints started off with lots of positive energy and were hungry for goals from the start. After several shots were denied by a strong CSM keeper, Saints realised they needed to be creative with their opportunities.

The ball was then picked up by Charlotte Jarman who fired home a reverse strike into the bottom corner, giving Saints their much needed 1st goal.

Shortly after the midfield were able to find Maisie Moule who had not one, but two cheeky reverse flicks, catching CSM off guard and putting Saints right out in front with a 3-0 lead.

CSM did not allow their heads to drop and created some good plays forcing keeper Nikita Williams to make some all important saves.

Half time 3-0

With captains and coaches advice fresh in Saints minds, the second half began with some excellent play, utilising triangles, left foot line and holding possession.

Laura Tregunna was able to receive the ball on the right hand side and made a great run down the line, finding Moule who squared the ball off to C Jarman who was able to slot the ball into the goal.

This was shortly followed by Vicky Jarman storming into the D and releasing two strikes at the CSM keeper and on the second occasion Charlotte was available to scoop up the rebound and get herself a hatrick

After a lot of hard work from the Saints to grab five goals and keep CSM off the scoring sheet, tired legs enabled a CSM to catch us out on the break and were able to secure themselves two well earned goals before the final whistle blew.

Final score 5-2.
