St Austell Ladies Vs Caradon 2

Today St Austell hosted top of the table side Caradon 2's.
With Caradon undefeated this year, Saints were prepared for a tough game. From the whistle Saints were raring to go, making some great interceptions and keeping possession of the ball. As the first half progressed Caradon began to apply pressure, forcing Saints to make some important tackles and clearances. Caradon were awarded a few short corners but failed to convert on each occasion as Saints defensive line of Ball, James, Oakley and Bevins held strong. St Austell were then able to make a break through Moule who charged ahead into the D and was able to win St Austell an important short corner. St Austell bagged the first goal of the game through a fantastic straight strike at the top of the D.
St Austell held this lead through until the half time whistle blew.

Half time 1-0

In the second half Caradon came out fighting and were quick to get an equaliser making the score 1-1. St Austell did not allow their heads to drop and were able to make some great play through the middle of the pitch through Horwell, Barrott and Moule. Ball, Tregunna and Bevins doing some great triangles to get out of the defensive line and progress up into Caradons half. The play continued with a lot of play in the middle of the pitch with both teams gaining back possession. Caradon were again awarded several short corners, but once again could not hit the target thanks to N Williams standing strong in goal with great clearances from Saints defence.
Moule was also able to make some further great runs up the pitch with support from K Williams and Crowle but the final whistle blew and Saints were able to hold the top of the table side to a 1-1 draw, which is a fantastic result.
