St Austell Ladies Vs Caradon 2

St Austell Ladies faced top of the league Caradon 2’s today.  We knew it would be tough but Saints with a full squad started really strong and put Caradon on the back foot.

Lots of strong attacks moving forward and winning a number of short corners which Saints were unfortunate to not convert.
Caradon also made some fast breaks but were denied by Saints defence and amazing saves by goalkeeper Nikita Williams.
Unfortunately the relentlessness of Caradon eventually got them their first goal.  Saints heads did not drop and they continued to play some great hockey. 

With a bit of bad communication at the back Saints left a Caradon player in the D wide open for a one on one shot, resulting in 2-0 at half time.

Caradon were first to face the sin bin , but St Austell struggled to make the most of being a player up. 

After half time Saints knew Caradon would come out strong but they too were determined to disrupt the run of play, however Caradon soon found the back of the net.

The umpires, taking no prisoners, showed the next card to M Ball for the second week running . (naughty girl)

Saints continued to put in strong tackles and connect passes to get up-field.  Caradon were awarded several short corners with a goal disallowed for being too high, and then another right at the end of the game which they managed to slot in. 

Final score Caradon 2’s 4 – Saints 0.

Great, resistant play from the travelling team this week, applying pressure on a top of the table squad. 
 
Saints go again next week at home against Bodmin 1’s.
