The game started strong from both sides applying pressure. Within 3 minutes Caradon were awarded a short corner. Saints defence worked had which kept Caradon’s first chance at goal unconverted. Saints defence continued to work hard to get the ball out to Lucie which was played nicely to Laura in the middle who slipped the ball up to Maisie. A brilliant run was made by Maisie up into the circle but unfortunately saved by Caradon’s keeper. 

The pressure continued with Saints midfield working hard. There were some great tackles coming in from defence to keep Caradon away. Kellie made a brilliant break with support in tow from Yas, Poppy and Beth. For a while it was end of end with both teams applying great pressure. Fresh legs came on Debbie and Molly who were ready to break down Caradon’s attacks. Saint were still fighting with Maisie passing off to Laura who made brilliant run but unfortunately Caradon’s defence kept Saint out. Caradon were still applying great pressure to Saint defence but it was not good enough. Saints continued to use everything they had learnt in training and kept their heads cool. Caradon made a break and managed to find the backboard. Caradon went 1-0 up. Saints managed to win multiple short corners but unfortunately Saints could not find the back of the net. Half time 1-0. 

After a great half time talk. Saints were ready to get going. Caradon continued to apply pressure but Saints defence held it strong not allowing any chances at goal. Again the saints were playing brilliant hockey passing the ball well with some great breaks. Short corners were awarded to Saints again unfortunately still no goal. Moments later the ball was coming through from Lindsey to Laura to Yas up to Maisie who made an excellent run and found the back of the goal. Saints heads lifted. Saints were eager for more. Minutes later the ball was played into the circle by Holly and Kellie gave the Saints the lead 2-1. With Caradon fighting back hard Saints defence kept them out. Amanda, Lindsey and Debbie were making some cracking tackles. Saints were awarded another short where Poppy managed to slip it past the keeper. Saint now up 3-1. 

Saints carried on fighting hard. Caradon were hungry for another goal and were applying great pressure to Saints defence. Caradon were awarded a short which managed to find the back of the goal 3-2.  Saints were not giving up! They worked hard shifting the ball out of defence from Mandy, up to Molly through to Holly who managed to play a lovely ball through to Maisie. Off Maisie went again 1 on 1 with the keeper and made it 4-2 for the Saints. Not
Long left both teams were feeling the pressure. Caradon and Saints both playing incredibly well. Caradon managed to find the net one last time making the final score 4-3. 

What an incredible performance from our ladies today. They worked so hard out there showing exactly what they have been training for. Well done to our newest club members for their first game for the Saints; Molly Adams and Poppy Marsh
