St Austell Ladies Vs Caradon 3

The first league game since Christmas and the ladies travelled to Lux Park, where they were welcomed by an experienced Caradon 3’s squad.

The last encounter between the two teams found Caradon taking the win and 3 points when they beat the Saints at home 5-2.

The travelling team took possession of the game early on and within the first minutes secured a short corner. Yasmin Barrott’s injection was calmly received by Charlotte Jarman, who swiftly slipped it back to her. Barrott’s clean strike was left balancing on the line by a defender and saw Kellie Williams sneak in, scooping it into the back board. 

In the lead, St Austell continued to keep the press high. Caradon managed a few breaks but Nikita Williams made some fantastic clearances, supported by the back three, diffusing any major threats. 

Half time 1-0. 

The second half saw pressure on the ladies to keep the lead. Caradon came out hard, working relentlessly to equalise. The game, at times, was end to end, including a couple of short corners St Austell struggled to convert and Holly Bunt getting an unfortunately disallowed goal. 

Caradon upped the tempo but despite their efforts, we’re unable to win any short corners, with Mandy Bevins supported by Maisie Moule and Debbie James clearing any attacks. Saints’ midfield worked tirelessly to cover the ground and slow down the play, keeping control of the game. 

A hard fought second half; the ladies managing to dig deep and keep the lead, with the final whistle blowing on a 1-0 win for the Saints.
