St Austell Ladies Vs Caradon 2

A full squad travelled to Lux Park today to be welcomed by Caradon 2s. Two saints players making their debuts for the ladies. Holly Bunt and Millie Bray 

A fantastic display of hockey was put on in the first half of todays game. The ladies dominated the play and put the pressure on a Caradon side who expected an easy game against the travelling team. 

The ladies had a string of short corners which they struggled to convert before a goal cleared the keeper but the foul beforehand saw the goal not given and a penalty strike was awarded instead. The stroke denied by the Caradon keeper. The pressure applied from St Austell kept Caradon on their toes, not something they were expecting from todays game. 

Despite the ladies best efforts in the first half, a change in tactics for the Caradon team saw them convert from one of their first opportunities in front of goal. A Caradon player was first on the sideline where she faced a green card. 

With plenty of positives to take into  the second half, Saints knew Caradon were to come out harder. The St Austell ladies slowing their play down and intercepting well. Saints were next faced with a green card and following that It wasn’t long before Caradon secured their second. 

The attacks from saints not as strong as before, but the team working equally as hard. More short corners awarded to the ladies but they struggled to find the back board.  Caradons pace continued to drive them toward, Saints defence and keeper not giving in and working tirelessly. Another saints player next on the sideline but this time upgraded to a Yellow card .  Caradons hard work paying off, they continued to clear the back line with a third and fourth. 

With two disallowed goals, the saints heads never drop and continued to have positive, creative play with plenty of positives to take forward and work on. 

The ladies are at home next Sunday, where they host CSM 1s.
