Match Report

The ladies faced their first Trelawney 1 league game today after a turbulent start to their season, with the Saints having to accept the loss of their home pitch, resulting in St Austell relocating to Truro!!

A fair game was being played across both teams but Caradon were clearly more drilled and disciplined from early on, encouraging St Austell’s defence to be alert. The first half remained open with Caradon first on the score sheet; however, Saints were quick to respond when Maisie Moule’s strike cleared the keeper a minute later.

Both teams were playing for the win but Caradon’s attacks were strong; Jacko Sanders kept the ladies in the game but despite her valiant efforts,  Caradon snuck in the lead once more with a great strike meeting the top corner of the net.

At the half time whistle the ladies were still in the game and it could have continued to go either way.

Caradon maintained their press in the second half; St Austell kept them away for the first 10 minutes but within the next 15, Caradon opened the flood gates and followed up with a further three goals.

The goals didn’t stop there. Saints started to tidy up and created a great piece of play from the back. Charlotte Jarman making crucial ground before being swamped by the defence, enabled Kellie Williams to clear up - securing Saints’ second and a finish to the scoring.

A challenging first game for the Saints in their new league. Lots of positives but also things to work on; an exciting season ahead for the ladies.

Massive well done to Amanda Crowle and Milly Foster for their debut match today.
