Match Report

The sun shone on Poltair this morning as Bodmin made their way to face St Austell on their home ground.

A full squad who were hungry for another win started off with tempo and powerful drive. Bodmins firm keeper denied St Austell from converting in the early minutes of the game. Laura Tregunnas interception led her to drive into the circle and along the base line before pinging it to the top of the D where Lucie Oakley was eagerly awaiting, Oakley slipped the ball off to striker Charlotte Jarman, who cleanly slotted it past the keeper, securing the first for the ladies. Momentum on their side and in usual fashion Jarman was working her way through the defence. Jarmans, powerful strike leading just shy of the top corner was smashed over the line by Bethany Horwells
reverse stick.

Bodmins attacks were threatening to St Austells defence, making them react quickly to their fast forwards. Debbie James making some well timed and crucial tackles, supported by Miranda Ball and Lindsay Allen to clear it back to the midfield.
On the break, Susie James tracking down the ball from defence,  picked up a pass on the edge of the circle, her speed denying Bodmin of the tackle gave her time in the D to strike the ball into the back board. Once more Jarman and Horwell were creating havoc for Bodmin, Jarmans powerful strike just scraping the inside of the post was encouraged over the line by Horwell, Saints fourth at half time.

Half time: 4-0

Saints prepared for Bodmin to start the second half continuing their strong attacks. Keeper King holding firm on her line with Mandy Bevins denying Bodmin from creating those scoring opportunities.
Saints were back on the break this time Yasmin Barrott, Maisie Moule and Oakley storming up the midfield. Bodmins keeper denying the shot on goal but not the second, Oakleys quick reactions on the rebound thumped the back boards. Kellie Williams and Hermione Crowle creating spaces out wide to receive Ball and Barrotts passes continuing Saints attacks. A Saints ball came flying across the D, Oakley primed on the ‘P’ spot put her second past the keeper.
Saints tempo remained high and a short corner awarded to them. Slick passes between Jarman and Barrott denied Bodmin from intercepting and Barrott popped it past the keeper once more. Bodmin kept the pressure applied and created themselves attacking play, but Saints back line and midfield continuing to contain them. In the closing minutes Jarman was forced to have a two minute breather in the sun at the sin bin.

The last piece of play was in the final minute. A St Austell short corner was lose in the circle, Oakley picked up the loose ball and pinged it over to un-marked Moule who secured the final goal, on the final whistle.
