Saints were delighted to be back on home turf today, but not so delighted with the Cornish mizzle
Saints were pushing forward from the first seconds of the game, great movement, passing and teamwork allowed Saints to create several chances and short corners, but Duchy fought hard in their defence and alongside some superb goalkeeping and balls hitting the post and flying over the crossbar Saints were denied any goals in the first half.
Duchy did have some breaks and were awarded short corners forcing keeper Roxy King to make a save.
Half time 0-0
In the second half saints patience and perseverance certainly paid off after Kellie Williams received a rebound following a short corner and popped the ball past the keeper which opened the floodgates for Saints.
The next goal came after Yasmin Barrott received the ball at the top of the D and rifled the ball towards the goal, a Duchy stick got a touch and deflected the ball into the back of the net.
Laura Tregunna was battling hard on the right hand side with some rapid runs and strong and was able to bag herself a well deserved goal which opened the flood gates for the saints
Miranda Ball was as solid as ever, stopping any Duchy breaks in their tracks and firing the ball back to Saints forward line allowing more chances to come. Ball found Tregunna who was able to drive the ball down the line and making great cross into Beth Horwell on the P spot who quickly hit the backboard for another saints goal.
Straight back into attack and Barrott dribbled her way past the Duchy defence into the D before finding Garnet Scott on the post who pinged the ball into the goal for our 5th goal!
After further pushing from the Saints including right back Mandy Bevins who was able to push up and create some chances, the ball fall into the D where several saints players got a stick on the ball to have a strike, but it was rebound after rebound until the ball fell to Tregunna who was able to bag her 2nd goal of the day.
Final Score: St Austell 6-0 Duchy 2's!
MOM: Mandy Bevins
