Match Report |
Within 30 seconds of the starting whistle, saints had intercepted the ball and Charlotte Jarman had whipped her way through into the D and scored a fantastic goal, smacking the ball right into the top corner. Following this the game settled and Caradon were fighting back, keeping our defence of Debbie James, Susie James, Lindsay Allen and Mandy Bevins busy with tackles and clearances. With the midfield working tirelessly up and down the pitch, Saints were creating opportunities and after some battling in the D were awarded a short corner. A classic move by Jarman and Yasmin Barrott found Barrott hitting the backboard with her first goal of the game. Saints continued to press which saw Laura Tregunna flying down the right hand side, pinging the ball into the D. Another short corner was awarded, and another set play from Jarman and Barrott, allowed Barrott to flick ball into the back of the net. Half time 3-0. Caradon came out fighting in the second half, and were also awarded a couple of short corners, but the defence were able to keep the balls clear of the goal. Lucie Oakley was making some great tackles and runs down the left hand side, seeing some great passing around the midfield and forwards. After a free hit, Barrott found Jarman who was able to grab the saints another goal with yet another great strike. Further fight from Caradon continued to put pressure on the Saints, Miranda Ball was making some strong tackles and sending fantastic long balls up the pitch, creating further opportunities for the saints. Some strong runs and passes from Maisie Moule and Beth Horwell allowed Saints to push back into the Caradon D. The rest of the half remained end to end, forcing Roxy King to make some important saves and Elaine White to intercept and clear to Ball who was putting out more strong passes up the pitch. Eventually, Jarman received the ball and was able to weave around Caradon defence and into the D for her hatrick. Just minutes later, saints were awarded another short corner and a strong injection from Moule, met Jarman who smashed the ball into goal for her 4th and final goal of the game. Final score 6-0 A consistent game, with 3 goals in each half and a great debut from Mandy Bevins!
