Match Report

The ladies went away with a depleated squad and bare 11. A change in positions meant it took a few moments for them to settle into the game. Once they settled they took the first half by storm.
The opening goal came from Lucie Oakley after the ladies first short corner. Maisie Moules injection was cleanly received by Susie James, who placed the ball perfectly for Oakley to clear the keeper.
Beth Horwell fancied the next goal and instead of one, ended up putting three past the keeper on the bounce, securing her hatrick. Her clean strikes and persistence in the circle pushed Truro’s defence.
Kellie Williams worked tirelessly on the right hand side, intercepting and pinching the ball off of Truro. As Williams picked up the ball on the right hand side, she started making ground; Laura Tregunna received Williams’ square pass in the middle and continued to make her way through the defence, securing Saints’s fifth goal before half time.

Truro came out determined in the second half and St Austell’s defence found themselves on the back foot, however any threat was soon diffused by Susie James and her speed. Debbie James covered a lot of ground throughout the game, supporting the midfield in their attacks. Keeper Roxanne King had her first touch of the ball in the second half clearing the ball out to Elaine White who supported the right hand side setting up the play for their breaks. Once more, Tregunna made her way into the circle, a quick slip to Oakley secured Oakley’s second goal when she put it over the line once more. Another threat was applied by Truro, this time Lindsay Allen kept keeper King safe, clearing any threat of a goal. Truro were awarded several short corners but the Saint’s defence prevented any from clearing the line. Saints attacks continued and a further short corner was awarded. Once more Moules injection was on point, this time received by Hermione Crowle; Crowle remained composed and passed off to Tregunna who once more found the back board! The threat from Saints was responded to by Truro but Saints came out stronger. With only a few minutes to go, two more short corners were awarded and despite the game drawing to an end, the ladies continued to push for a higher score line. Moule was back on the injection, this time S James stood forward and with a strong slap and found the corner of the goal. As the final corner was awarded, Oakley tasted a hat trick and she cleanly secured it when she powered the ball past the keeper.

Final score 9-0.
