Match Report |
Saints held the possession throughout the first half, they had to work hard to break down Duchys strong defensive line but Charlotte Jarmans pace is hard to match. Duchys keeper was working tirelessly from keeping Jarman from opening up the scoring with some great saves whilst Kellie Williams and Maisie Moule also a constant threat to the back line. Saints midfield keeping the possession, they had to remain patient. Duchys hard working keeper was soon beaten by Jarman when she blasted the ball into the back board. Saints spirits were lifted and it wasn’t long after Maisie Moule made the next attack on the hard working defence that Jarman scored her second. Duchy were playing well and making Saints play creatively. Saints were awarded a short corner and had to change their tactics to make it through the tough keeper. Laura Tregunna’s injection met Yasmin Barrott at the top of the circle and the set piece between her and Jarman found Barrott clearing the goal line, securing Saints third. Duchys counter attacks at this time were settled by Miranda Ball, who eliminated any early threat onto Saints, cleared the ball up to Jarman who turned up the pace and secured her first half hat trick. Half time 4-0. Duchys momentum picked up in the second half and their fast legs in midfield hit hard. Debbie James made some fantastic tackles on the left hand side and Susie James and her speedy legs were applying the pressure. Lindsay Allen couldn’t be out skilled and was making the crucial blocks. Jacko Saunders was welcomed back into goal and the experienced keeper was primed and ready. A twinge from Allen meant she was heading for the sideline and Saints defence needed to reorganise. As always Ball was composed, organising and communicating keeping the defence and midfield in order. Duchys hard work was soon rewarded when they managed to put one over the line. St Austell responded and Lucie Oakley working the left hand side made solid ground, Barrott in the middle, made the solid pass into the circle found a goal hungry Williams who put it away, scoring in her third consecutive game for her first season with Saints. The game was end to end with both teams after the next goal. Jarman was once again no match for the defence who made her way up the pitch from the half line, with the goal in her sight, in true fashion she powered the ball past the keeper bagging her fourth. Duchys press remained and Elaine White kept strong on the right hand side and preventing Duchy from sneaking anything in off the slip. Duchys press once again remained and Saunders save gave the defence a second to breathe but before long Duchy managed to push for their second. Final score, 7-2 |
