Match Report

From the offset Saints took control of the game and looked threatening. An unprepared CSM were put on the back foot and under pressure. Within the first minutes they were meeting the full force of St Austell’s Charlotte Jarman who in her normal fashion cleared the defence, keeper and the back line. Opening the scoring.

Saints kept hold of the possession and were making CSM work hard. As always, play maker Yasmin Barrott, fed the balls out wide to Kellie Williams and Maisie Moule and before long Moule found the back board again. Williams felt like it was her turn next on the score card and secured Saints third when ensuring Lucie Oakleys strike crossed the line.  St Austell controlled the game, the majority of the first half in their possession, Lucie Oakley and Laura Tregunna creating play out wide, the goals continued to flood in. St Austells top three were causing havoc for CSM, Jarman and Moule bagging themselves first half hat tricks and Williams scoring her second.

Half time 8-0.

St Austell hadn’t finished there and entered the second half hungry for more. CSM fancied some opportunities themselves and made some promising breaks however Miranda Ball calmly diffused any threat. Saints kept working their magic and popping the ball around the pitch, the midfield and forwards creating opportunities and once again Jarman was making her mark. The goal machine wasn’t stopping any time soon and was popping them in left, right and centre. Yasmin Barrott fancied a taste herself and secured her first goal of the season from the top of the circle.
CSM weren’t giving up and St Austells defence were made to have a taste of the game in the second half. In her normal fashion Lindsay Allen held strong in her position, supported by Debbie James and Elaine White who tracked down any play, working hard to clear the lines and break up CSMs momentum. Poor Keeper King left out the game, started to get a bit chilly.

Jarman was once again on the break, with Hermione Crowle and Susie James to each side of her they were making ground. A Jarman strike was just saved by the keeper however S.James had her eyes on the prize and cleared it past the keeper.

Teamwork through the Saints was apparent, communication and determination from the whole squad continued into the final minute. Saints were awarded their final short corner, Tregunna’s injection made Jarman at the top of the circle, Jarman smashing it into the back board, securing her fifth goal of the second half and finishing St Austells scoring.
