Match Report

After almost an entire year away, St Austell ladies finally made their way back to the pitch after season 20/21 was abandoned due to COVID.

12 very excited ladies arrived at Bodmin Leisure Centre after travelling through the fog, to take on their first league game of the season, against a young Bodmin side.

The game started with all players trying to finding their feet after so long away, but it wasn't long before the ladies found their stride and the goals started to roll in. Super striker Charlotte Jarman was the first to get a goal after charging into the D and pinging the ball into the top right corner. This goal was shortly followed by Lucie Oakley who managed to score from an almost impossible angle, making it 2-0 to the Saints.
A determined Bodmin fought back and managed to get a goal on the break, which closed the gap.
St Austell kept pushing back and strong balls were being sent out wide from centre midfielders Miranda Ball and Yasmin Barrott, allowing Laura Tregunna and Oakley to make some great runs up the line, pushing into the Bodmin defence.
Beth Horwell was next to bag herself a goal, swiftly moving the ball into the net.
Beth was closely following by Kellie Williams who was making her debut for the team, and was able to pop in a goal after some great positioning on the post.

Half time 4-1.

The second half saw the opposition come out strong and they were able to make their way through to St Austell's defence. Strong performances from Susie James, Lindsay Allen, Debbie James and Roxanne King allowed the ladies to keep a clean sheet for the 2nd half of the match.
It took St Austell a while to get back into the game after half time, but as soon as they did the goals just kept coming.
Maisie Moule grabbed the first goal of the second half, after the ball was played into the D from the midfield, Moule was able to finish the job and get herself on the score sheet.
Jarman was on fire and scored 3 goals on the bounce with some fantastic finishes, and Moule and Oakley both secured their 2nd goals of the game.

Team: Roxanne King, Susie James, Lindsay Allen, Debbie James, Miranda Ball, Yasmin Barrott, Laura Tregunna, Lucie Oakley, Beth Horwell, Maisie Moule and Kellie Williams (MOM)
