Match Report |
St Austell arrived at Bodmin's ground feeling determined following a loss last week, and they welcomed back Charlotte Jarman following her week away in the sun.
From the first whistle, St Austell were moving the ball around well with some great balls being played out wide to Laura Tregunna who was running the ball down the wing and playing into Jarman and Chloe Tyrell. Jarman opened the scoring with a strong run into the D with a reverse hit into the bottom corner. Minutes later saints were awarded with a long corner and Yasmin Barrott took the ball through the defence, into the D and scored with another great reverse strike. Bodmin came back fighting and kept the saints strikes out as Barrott and Miranda Ball were playing several long balls to Sophie Millington and Tyrell on the posts. Eventually Jarman was able to break through and following a solo run into the D she scored, striking the ball into the back of the net. Before the half time whistle a determined saints were back in the D pushing for another goal and after several rebounds they were awarded with a penalty flick. Bodmin's keeper stood strong and was able to stop Lindsay Allen from converting.
Half time 3-0.
Bodmin started the second half strong and determined and started to put pressure onto the defence. Roxanne King made some great saves. Ball and Allen were making some great interceptions and tackles, before clearing the ball out wide to Jenny Carter and Debbie James who were then able to get the ball up to Tregunna and Susie James, allowing Saints to push into Bodmin's half. The first 10 minutes was end to end with no goals scored. But Jarman opened up the flood gates after another great run, slotting the ball past the keeper. After this the goals kept coming and minutes later Jarman used her reverse to score again. The midfield of Ball, Tregunna, S James and Barrott were moving the ball around well allowing them to press into Bodmin's half and off load to Jarman, Emily Canty and Tyrell. After another run from Jarman the saints were awarded a short corner. Barrotts initial shot was denied and the rebound fell back to her, she was able to slip the ball back to Tregunna, who smashed the ball past Bodmin's keeper for her first goal of the season. Play restarted with a lot of play down the left of the pitch with passes between Ball, Barrott and mother-daughter duo Susie and Debbie. Barrott was able to switch the ball across the pitch with a square ball to Tregunna who made a strong run into the D and with a great strike, scored her second of the game. Bodmin fought back putting pressure onto St Austell defence, but Elaine White made a strong tackle playing the ball through to Midfield. Saints pushed forwards and a forceful ball was crossed into the D where S James scored from another great reverse. In the final minutes of the game Allen took a hit out which fell to Barrott, who sent a long ball out wide to Tyrell. Tyrell crossed the ball to Jarman who made another great solo run and scored a straight strike for her 5th goal of the game.
