Match Report

The Saints travelled away to Penryn College on Saturday, to face CSM for an 11am push back.

The two sides have never played each other before so both teams were unsure what they were up against.

The game started with both teams making threatening breaks, but after the first 15 minutes saints began to settle into the game and held most of the possession with the midfield and forwards linking together well and pushing forwards. Saints were awarded a couple of short corners but were unable to convert. However after a free hit was awarded to the saints, Susie James pressed forwards into the D and after a lovely 1-2 with Charlotte Jarman, Susie was able to strike the ball towards goal. The shot was saved by CSM's keeper but after a rebound and a couple of touches, Lucie Oakley was able to find the back of the goal giving the saints the first goal of the game.

Just minutes later the saints were back fighting for another goal and Yasmin Barrott was able to send the perfect ball through to Jarman, who scored an incredible goal by smashing the ball into the top right corner of the net. This will definitely be a contender for goal of the season!

Half Time St Austell 2-0 CSM.

In the second half CSM came back fighting and put St Austell's defence under pressure. Lindsay Allen, Elaine White and Debbie James found themselves making several strong tackles and clearances to keep the CSM from getting a goal. Eventually after some relentless attacking from CSM, they were awarded with a goal. Saints came back fighting, Miranda Ball was able to make several strong tackles and put some great passes through for Laura Tregunna and Susie James to make their runs up the wings. Saints were back in with another chance to score with Emily Sheila and Amy Simons battling with CSM's defence. Jarman used her speed and skill to put CSM's defence and keeper under pressure, but they fought back making the last 10 minutes of the game an extremely close match. Super keeper Roxanne King made some excellent saves, allowing saints to remain on top when the final whistle went.
